Description:

This tea come from Mengsong mountain, wild arbor tea garden. Trees are 80-120 years old, growing wild in forest.¨ We visited this garden in Januar 2015 and very like the place. We bought first harvest which was just 30kg only.

Hand processing in every step and sun-dried, traditional stone pressed in Menghai town.

Typical Mengsong taste, aromatic tea soup, sweet, full and strong, bittersweet long aftertaste.

Good Mengsong

5 stars 4.5 This review helped: 0 / 0

Beautiful smell of rinsed leaves – flowery-sweet fragrance. Very deep „odour“

The first infusion is fragrant and sweet, with just a little astringency in the end, fast huigan. The colour of the brew is light-yellow and it quickly changes to orange.

The taste is full, outstanding, sweet, spicy and fragrant. Simply splendid. Out of all 5 teas in 2015 ChawangPu Collection is Mengsong the one most fragrant.

Astringency is gentle. Fair warming-up energy.

This is nice tea from Mengsong area. Tasty young sheng suitable to drink now, for those how loves young green puerhs. Fragrant, spicy taste typical for Mengsong. It will also mature well, I guess.

We will also write about Mengsong tea pressed into bamboo - 2014 Autumn Mengsong Bamboo Raw Puerh Tea 500g.
There is also one ripe puerh from Mengsong area - 2014 Mengsong Ripe Puerh Cake 357g – we will write about this one later. Anyway all reviewed Mengsong puerh teas can be seen here.

Very nice tea for the price of $22 / 200g cake (2015).

Quotes - Pu-erh

„Once dry, maocha can be sent directly to the factory to be pressed into raw pu'er, or to undergo further processing to make ripened pu'er. Sometimes Mao Cha is sold directly as loose-leaf "raw" Sheng Cha or it can be matured for 2–3 years in loose leaf form due to the faster rate of natural fermentation in an uncompressed state. This product is then pressed into numerous shapes and sold as "raw" Sheng Cha as a more matured final product.“

Quotes

„The terms "Xiao shu" (small tree) and "tai di" (terrace plantation) are often interchangeably used, but they should be given separate meanings. "Tai di" connotes high intensity farming, with the entire slope cleared & terraced to plant hedgerows & use of pesticide & fertilizer. But in many gu shu growing villages, there are also new tea plantations which are too young to be called gu shu (ie. less than 100 years old), but they aren't exactly "tai di" either. Many of these plants are growing next to old trees, in a bio-diverse forest clearing, with lots of space around them, not all are sprayed & fertilized. In the future, they will grow into "gu shu", until then we should call them "shen tai xiao shu" (naturally grown small trees)“
