Description:

The raw materials of this cake came from villages in Myanmar, its north border on small Mengsong mountain. Tea trees are about three hundreds years old and remain unmanaged. The natives living in isolated areas where transportation is difficult, they carry the tea on the backs and walk to the border. The tea is not expensive but does not come by easily.

Pleasant surprise

The first infusion was quite bitter, probably because it's Gushu (wild tea trees) and also this year's tea. It should lose its bitterness late on when the raw cake will be properly stored. Since the second infusion bitterness has subsided and later almost disappeared. It smelled sweet, very pleasant smell in the cup. I do not know how I would describe the taste, as herbal - flower, but I like it very much. For the price of $ 14, I'd say that this is an excellent tea, certainly adept for buying a cake - if not the entire Tong (5 pieces) ;-)

Quotes - Pu-erh

„zhang wei; 樟味 - Camphor flavour. This is sometimes present in old tea tree Puer. Due, it is said, to the presence of Camphor Laurels in tea gardens where they were planted as a form of natural pest control. “

Quotes

„Longjing tea was granted the status of Gong Cha, or Imperial tea, in Qing Dynasty by Chinese emperor Kangxi. According to the legend, Kangxi's grandson Qianlong visited West Lake during one of his famous holidays.
He went to the Hu Gong Temple under the Lion Peak Mountain (Shi Feng Shan) and was presented with a cup of Longjing tea. In front of the Hu Gong Temple were 18 tea bushes. Emperor Qianlong was so impressed by the Longjing tea produced here that he conferred these 18 tea bushes special imperial status. The trees are still living and the tea they produce is auctioned annually for more money per gram than gold.“
